OVERVIEW

Jasmine Asia, a new Asian cuisine restaurant in Beverley, UK, needed a standout branding and online presence to attract and engage customers. The goal was to create a stunning and user-friendly website that captured the essence of the restaurant's brand and offered a great user experience. Additionally, the project included developing a cohesive brand identity through graphic design.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Our target audience included:

  • Young to elderly food lovers in the local community seeking authentic Asian cuisine.

  • Seniors looking for an easy-to-navigate website for browsing menus and making reservations.

  • Family members of elderly people who assist with online interactions and reservations.

THE GOAL

The first goal was to develop a branding kit that:

  • Clearly communicates Jasmine Asia’s cultural authenticity.

  • Create visual appeal and establish recognition.

  • Maintain a consistent brand image across all platforms.

The main goal was to develop a website that:

  • Clearly communicated Jasmine’s unique brand and values.

  • Showcased the diverse menu and the inviting dining experience.

  • Provided a smooth, simple, and informative user experience on all devices.

KEY CHALLENGES OR CONSTRAINTS

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Making sure the design elements authentically represented various Asian cultures without falling into stereotypes.

  • Brand Consistency: Keeping a consistent brand image across all online and offline materials, by creating a branding kit and design system.

  • Design Scalability: Since this is a start-up restaurant, I have to develop a solid design system and branding kit for future graphic designs and website functionalities.

CONCLUSION

The final design hit all the right notes and exceeded the client’s expectations. Here’s what we achieved:

  • Increased Engagement: The attractive design and interactive elements led to more user engagement and longer visits. The website receives a consistent 3000+ visits per month, from which 1/8 of the visits reaches the contact page.

  • Positive Feedback: Both the client and users loved the website for its look, cultural authenticity, and ease of use.

Overall, the project was a big success, showing how important a well-researched and user-focused design approach is in creating a strong online presence for a restaurant. On a personal note, I realize the difficulty balancing the customers and clients needs in design. As well as the importance of scalable design for start-up businesses.
